2008 Encampment

 Updated 29 April 2008

Welcome to the home page of the Colorado Wing Encampment.  Attending encampment will be one of the most memorable experiences of your cadet career, so this page is here to help you stay informed with the latest news, application process, and to prepare you to come spend a week with us.  Dates are 14-21 June 2008 at US Air Force Academy Preparatory School (PIPER required staff training is 11-13 June 2008).  CESSnA (Staff Selection) is 11-13 April.  Please check back frequently for updates.

Cadet Encampment Staff Selection Activity (CESSnA) was a great success and everyone who participated in either the activity or the alternate selection process was evaluated and fought over by the cadet staff to place them in the best positions!  We know they will do well and bring Colorado a great encampment.

Please check the documents module to the right to download any necessary documents.  Please note that the equipment list was updated to add a padlock to it!

APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED NOW FOR FIRST TIME ATTENDEES!
Dates 14 June 08 (In-processing is between 9 AM and 12 PM) - 21 June 08 (Graduation 10:00 AM presentation in the auditorium & 11 AM parade)
Applications are due 10 MAY 2008.  You may start gathering your documents now.  We expect this to be a full activity and there are a limited number of slots.  Slots will be filled as applications are received on a first come -first serve basis.  Cost is expected to be between $185 and $250.  Hurry slots are filling fast!

Applications must include:
1.   CAP Form 31 (at right) with your CAPSN (social security number) in the correct box and your CAPID centered on the top of the first page.  This is an Air Force requirement and not optional.  Do not allow your application to be rejected due to errors!

2.   Copy of your health insurance card.

3.   Legal Packet (at right).  Must be notarized.  There will not be notary services at in processing.  Make sure you get the correct one for your age (over or under 18).

Mail complete applications to (incomplete applications may not be processed):

Colorado Wing, CAP Encampment
Attn: Lt Col Rick Oakes
19210 E. Breckenridge Ave Stop 33
Buckley AFB, CO 80011-9525

APPLICATIONS ARE ALSO BEING ACCEPTED FOR ADVANCED TRAINING FLIGHT!

The Advanced Training Flight is not like a basic encampment. The ATF will enjoy more fun activities and privileges than first time attendees.  (You are required to have already attended a basic encampment to apply for this training.) They will learn non-commissioned officer and junior officer skills in preparation for leading their squadrons and future activities.  They will practice and learn advanced leadership, drill, and team building techniques.  Think of it as college prep when the first timers are in Junior High!  We hope to send them on some fun AE activities such as firearms training powered o-rides, possibly a C-130 ride.  If you have already attended a basic encampment and want a more challenging leadership activity, join the Advanced Training Flight!  The same application process above applies but please indicate in the activity section of the F31 ATF.  Act fast as we limit this flight to 11 attendees.

Parents should bookmark this site and check back as information about arrival times and graduation will be posted here as soon as available.  This site is often updated on a daily basis to get the most current information to you ASAP!

Point of contact for questions is Lt. Col. Erin Ashby, Cadet Activities Officer, COWG
