COVID

COVID-19 Provider Resources

The Air Force Academy and Colorado Wing are extremely concerned about encampment becoming a super spreader event.  The Prep School is concerned about encampment contaminating dormitories and facilities.  CAP is concerned about attendees getting or spreading COVID during encampment.

A COVID Mitigation plan is in place to reduce the potential for illness and to deal with anyone becoming ill.  Colorado Wing does not have the health services resources to test for COVID or to treat ill members at encampment.  The mitigation plan is to notify parents/guardians/spouses and send you home that day.

No one wants encampment to become a super spreader event.

If you are ill, stay home.

The mitigation plan also calls for:

  • If you become ill during encampment, you will be sent home.  Avoiding morning PT by feigning illness will get you sent home.

  • Contact tracing will automatically include members of the flight and others identified through interviews or observation.  There is a possibility that members of the flight may be sent home also depending upon the rules in place at the time by the Academy.

  • Regularly disinfecting rooms and touchable surfaces.

  • Social distancing.

  • More outdoor events than in past years.

  • Masks are required.  If you cannot or will not wear a mask, encampment is NOT for you.  Mask must have two or more layers of washable, breathable fabric.  The fabric color & print is the member’s choice.

  • All attendees are expected to bring personal hand sanitizer with them.  Enough for the duration of encampment.  There will be frequent hand washing or sanitizing.

Encampment is highly recommending members who become eligible for vaccinations get them.  Encampment would like members who have one or both COVID Vaccine shots to self-identify which is included in the application package.

For Parents

In order to keep Encampment as healthy as possible, we need every parent’s help. Please watch for symptoms in your cadet and keep them home if they are sick. Please notify encampment staff if the cadet will be absent. Cadets should also stay home if a family member has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms.  It would nice if everyone traveling to encampment got a COVID Test & Results or vaccinated before traveling.

Please take your cadet's temperature every morning leading up to encampment and before departing to the Air Force Academy.  Anyone who fails this home health screen is NOT to come to the Prep School.     Look for these symptoms & if they are answered yes, stay home:

  • Fever over 100.4° or chills.

  • Cough.

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.

  • Fatigue.

  • Muscle or body aches.

  • Headache.

  • New loss of taste or smell.

  • Sore throat.

  • Congestion or runny nose.

  • Nausea or vomiting.

  • Diarrhea.

This list is not all-inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.

To notify encampment that you or your cadet are unable to attend, please call Lt Col Rick Oakes  or Capt Steve Dunning.
