Memorial Day Weekend Events

Greetings Civil Air Patrol Members,

On behalf of Colorado Wing Commander Col Michael Fay, Government Relations Advisor Col Gary Tobey, Director of Cadet Programs 1st Lt Issac Stone, and myself, Government Relation Advisor Lt Col Thom Scheffel are all pleased to announce the following service opportunities this coming Memorial Day Weekend.

Civil Air Patrol once again is being called upon to REMEMBER and HONOR our fallen service members and their families as well as those who now serve and those who have.

Service opportunities are as follows:

WHO: YOU! Senior Members and Cadets.

WHAT: Duties include Cadets escorting guests, program handout, wreath and flower laying etc..

WHERE: First opportunity - Saturday May 25 th (0800-1300) at Colorado Freedom Memorial located at 756 Telluride St Aurora, Co 80011 (free-will donation pancake breakfast at 0800)

WHERE: Second opportunity - Monday May 27th (0800-1300) at Fort Logan National Cemetery located at 4400 West Kenyon Ave Denver, Co 80236. (07:30 arrival to help set up is appreciated)

Why: To Remember, Honor and Encourage.

How: By joining with fellow Cadets and Senior Members from local squadrons who are properly uniformed, well-groomed and looking for the opportunity to Remember and Honor our fallen.

The UOD is blues w/tie, Service dress if available, Sr. Members the same or corporate uniform if appropriate. Cadets, please bring white gloves if available. (Please watch the weather reports and be prepared if inclement weather if predicted. Advisable to also bring a bottle of water, a small snack of some kind and sunscreen, if needed) Cadets and Squadron Commanders (on their behalf), please be sure to have on your person the required paperwork. (CAD ID, CAP form 161), “emergency information” “Cap form 60-80 Cadet Activity Permission slip”.

Please check your uniforms, grooming standards and customs and courtesies, especially rendering and returning a salute.
